History & Heritage

For the most comprehensive site available for western and history-related events in Prescott and Yavapai County, check out our website:  You’ll also find information about “Heritage Keepers,” those organizations and individuals who help preserve and promote our western heritage.

PRESCOTT WESTERN HERITAGE FOUNDATION, INC., was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2011, to preserve and promote our western heritage through education, events, art, music, and related projects that enhance our western lifestyle, making Prescott a unique place to live and visit.

The Foundation awards “Heritage Keeper” Scholarships to deserving high school students, provides funding for numerous educational outreach programs, and holds an annual Western Heritage Banquet Fundraiser in the Fall.

Through a collaboration of local organizations, businesses, and cities and towns within Yavapai County, we are planning to open a Western Heritage Center in downtown Prescott to promote participating non-profit organizations which share our vision of educating residents and visitors of all ages, about our history and western heritage.
