Sharlot Hall Museum

Sharlot Hall Museum is named after its founder, Sharlot Mabridth Hall (1870-1943), who became well-known as a poet, activist, politician, and Arizona’s first female Territorial Historian.

Prescott, Arizona’s Phippen Museum is named after local artist and first president of the Cowboy Artists of America, George Phippen. It presents museum quality fine art exhibitions, educational programming,  art and heritage events.

World's Oldest Rodeo

July 4, 1888 marked the birthdate of the professional rodeo in Prescott when a group of local merchants and professional businessmen organized the first “cowboy tournament.” They offered a cash prize, Juan Leivas became the first winner, and the rodeo was born.
