Living History Adventure: “Frontier Timber and Territorial Beginnings”

Join us on Saturday, August 8, 2026, for a special Living History Adventure exploring Fort Misery, the oldest known surviving pioneer cabin in Arizona and one of the Sharlot Hall Museum’s most treasured historic structures.

Cabins like Fort Misery tell the story of the pioneers who settled in Prescott and built new lives in the Arizona Territory. Using the natural resources around them, these early settlers constructed homes by hand, creating shelters that have endured for generations.

Visitors will discover how pioneer families built their log cabins, learn about the preservation efforts that have helped Fort Misery survive for more than a century, and gain a deeper appreciation for frontier life in territorial Arizona. Guests of all ages will also have the opportunity to create and take home their own miniature “log cabin” as part of this hands-on experience.

Living History Adventure programs are included with General Admission and Museum Membership.
